Happy New Year!
This New Year's Eve we went to Cheryl's brother's house (Dave and Jess') like we've been doing for the past few years now. It's always a good time. A couple of years ago the Foster's 500 (?) came into being. Everybody (mostly the guys) brings their Zip Zap RC cars and the race begins. The first year it was on a track taped out on Dave and Jess' kitchen floor (which stayed a little longer than intended... whoops!), then Uncle Steven had a dream... which ended with the track that we use now. A few long straight aways around the outside edge with an inside section that contains a maze of lefts, rights and hair-pin turns that only the most experienced drivers can negotiate. The preparation and competition gets pretty intense. Long before any cars even hit the track, bodies are picked and decorated and engines and gears are fine tuned.
I think I do pretty well in the races, but I guess this year Andrew had the best luck with his James Bond car. The usual drinking, good company and merriment of a New Year's Eve party also add to the good time.
Ryan has been sick since right after Christmas with some kind of respitory virus (RSV). He spent New Years with Nana. Cheryl took him back to the Dr today since he didn't really seem to be getting better. He still has the RSV and now has two ear infections to go along with it. He can't go back to school (daycare) for the rest of the week, so it looks like I'll be extending my Christmas vacation a little longer from work. Cheryl stayed home with him today because I was planning to go to work, but I've been sick the past couple of days myself and was up most of last night and I ended up staying home also.Anyway... Hope everybody had a Happy New Year and we wish you well in 2006!!!
